VNIT Reset Tool troubleshooting: the error is still there, or the printer is not found

The printer still shows the error after a reset

Switch the printer off, wait a few seconds, and switch it on again. The printer only reads the new counter when it starts up. This is the most common reason people think a reset did not work.

After the restart, press Check again. The counter should read 0%, or 85% after a free trial.

The tool cannot find the printer

• Check the printer is switched on and has finished starting up. Wait until it is quiet.
• USB: unplug the cable and plug it in again. If it still fails, try a different USB cable. Poor-quality cables do cause this.
• Wi-Fi (only printers with Wi-Fi, in testing): if the tool does not find the printer over the network, connect a USB cable instead.
• The printer does not answer at all: cancel every print job, switch the printer off with its power button, wait about 10 seconds, switch it on, then press Check again.

“The printer is being used by the system”

Windows is holding the printer. Open Printers & scanners in Windows Settings (in Windows 11 it is under Bluetooth & devices), select your Epson, open its print queue and choose Pause printing from the Printer menu. Then try again. Resume printing when you are done.

“Model not in the database”

The tool has no settings for this model yet. Send us the exact model name on WhatsApp and we will check.

“Written, but the read-back does not match”

The reset may not have completed. Do not switch the printer off. Run the reset again.

The trial button says the counter is not full enough

The trial only runs at 90% or above, so your one trial is not wasted. At a lower level you do not need a reset yet.

The trial button says it has been used

Each printer gets one trial, counted on our server. A full reset needs a key.

Nothing happens when I press a button

Read the log panel at the bottom of the tool. It records every action and the reason when something fails. If the tool closes by itself, send us the file loi.txt from the tool’s folder.
