Epson M2180: replace the maintenance box, not the counter
The M2180 collects waste ink in a replaceable maintenance box with a chip (T04D1). When the box is full, the fix is a new box. No reset software, ours included, applies to this model.
How the M2180 tells you
When its maintenance box is full, the M2180 stops printing and asks you to replace the maintenance box. The count is kept on the box's chip, which is why a new box clears the message.
What to do
- Check the code printed on the box in your printer. It should read T04D1.
- Buy a replacement T04D1 box. Genuine Epson boxes and compatible boxes with a new chip are both sold.
- Swap the box following your printer's manual. The printer reads the new chip and the message clears.
