Resetting an Epson waste ink counter over Wi-Fi

What you need

• The printer connected to your Wi-Fi network, the same network as the computer.
• A Windows 10 or 11 computer with internet access.
• VNIT Reset Tool, unzipped.

Steps

1. Switch the printer on and let it join the network. A printer that has just been switched on can take a moment.
2. Run VNIT_Reset.exe and press Check. The tool looks for the printer on USB and on the network.
3. When the model and serial appear, read the counter, run the trial, or reset with a key, exactly as over USB.
4. Switch the printer off and on again after any reset.

When to use the cable instead

• The connection drops part-way.
• The computer is on a guest network or a different network from the printer.
• The tool cannot find the printer after the printer has fully started.

A USB cable is the most reliable connection. Many laptops only have USB-C ports, so an adapter may be needed.

Why this matters

Some service tools only work with a USB cable. Being able to reset over Wi-Fi helps when the printer is in another room or your laptop has no suitable port.
